Russian hallmark help please

Post by Jnyfer »

Could anyone please help to identify these marks. I have looked for hours online.

Could someone tell me how to upload photos on here?

(admin edit - see Posting Requirements )

Thank you in advance,
Jenny.

Thank you, I managed to upload the pics and any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a ruby (I think) encrusted Cross (will upload pic of the front in a min.

It was given to my late grandfather during ww2 by his Russian girlfriend! He later gave it to my Nanna after they were married and then it was passed to my mother and now to myself. This is all I know about it.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
1.Those are not Russian marks
2.Chain and cross are not by the same maker, the cross being older.
3.The stones are garnets (most likely of Bohemian origin).
4.The cross could be gilded silver
5.Marks are too small to be positively identified. The search should be limited to Austria and Czechoslovakia with better close up of the marks.

Regards

Thank you, should I edit the thread title to see if anyone else can recognise the hallmarks knowing the origin is Austria and Czechoslovakia?

If that`s gold the post is in the right place (``gold marks``).
The marks are really difficult to recognize.

Hi Jenny,

Can you post a sharper close-up of this mark:

I will try but my camera doesn’t seem to pick it up.

I will take some pictures in different lights and see what I can do.

Wow Italian chain thank you.

Any more info on the cross anyone.
