Help with Makers Mark on Teapot

Post by SilverDreams »

Howdy,

Long, long time lurker, first time poster. This site has been a big part of my erm, extensive silver collecting habit (thanks a lot. haha) :)

I picked this up at a thrift store, of all places, and I cannot find the mark for the life of me. I have looked on the symbols pages of this site and others (the chinese silver site, smbb, etc etc). To the top of the finial is approx. 10 inches and the fattest part of the pot (aren't the lines on this guy just awesome btw? I am wondering if this is a really nice but really old piece because it appears to be made super well, the lid snaps in with a very satisfying snugness) is approx 6 inches across. I have been meaning to polish it but I haven't had the chance (this and about 40 other things...no joke. oy.)

Anyway if anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot.

Oh! And one other thing: You can only really see it with a loupe but on the inside of the symbol is the word "MADE"

Maybe "Hand" "Made"???????? Idk.

Clearly I do not know how to edit a post!

Here is a better photo of the makers mark with the word "made" visible.

I've just added them to this new topic: The Baltimore Silver Trade

It's currently a work in progress and hopefully will be updated regularly.
