Sterling Shoe Clips - Sheffield but Odd Date Code

Post by natNYC »

I looked on the date key list here, but didn't see one that matches the mark.
I can't imagine it is very old, as it's also marked sterling.
though maybe the sterling mark was added later?

also, i assume these were sweater or (permanent) dress clips, unless you think they might be something different?

Hi,

Not Sheffield, but Attleboro, Massachusetts. They were made by the Thomae Company.

See: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic ... 38&t=44033

and: http://www.925-1000.com/ax_Thomae.html

Trev,

That is it! thank you. I did think it was odd that it looked like an early place and had hallmarks and sterling on it.

thanks!
