Source of Hallmark with Face, Crown & 'L'?

Post by itsyours »

I am trying to identify the maker of a pair of candlesticks I own. The hallmark includes what I think is a face, a crown and a script 'L'. It is also includes the words 'Sterling' and 'Weighted" and the numbers 464.

Any information about maker and date would be greatly appreciated.

Might it be related to Sheffield Silver Co NY?

I don't have my source books with me, but I am pretty sure the last letter is not an L, but a D, and I think this mark is in Rainwaters someplace. Anyone with the book care to give it a look? I'll try to check it later.

It's one of the variations of the Sheffield Silver Co. mark.
