Herbst & Wassall spoon dated 1825 prior to Co. beginning

Herbst & Wassall apparently started in 1909 but this folding spoon is dated 1825. How can that be? Thank you for looking into this for me.

The numbers '1825' do not refer to the date, it is an internal order/pattern/model number.
