French Silverplate Flatware Identification

Post by Thecindy »

I just inherited this beautiful set of French silverplate flatware and would love to know more about it. It is stamped with a rectangle with 'Metal Blanc' (which I've learned means it's silver-plate) and a second stamp with what appears to be the initials J.P with 84G under it.

Cannot find any information on what the J.P would stand for. I'm certain it's French. The box has the jeweller's name and address, "Comptoir General Joaillerie, 9Bd Poissonniere Paris."

The pieces are heavy and beautifully detailed. I love the set and feel so lucky! But need some bragging rights!!!

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

To understand the '84g', see: https://www.925-1000.com/a_platenumbers.html
