Help identifying letter hallmarks

Postby pinkandgreen254 » Thu May 09, 2019 7:30 pm

Hello, I’m hoping someone might be able to assist me in identifying old set of fish knives and forks. Only stamped letters and an ampersand appears on the flatware. I’ve literally spent hours searching and to no avail. I think these might be Old Sheffield Plate, but not sure. The stamp marks are “D” “H” each inside a circle, “&” inside a shield shape, “S” inside a circle, followed by an “A” in another circle. The letters “D” “H” and “S” are in Old English type script, and the “A” in a newer type font. Any direction or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! PS- I’m not sure how to attach the photos.

Hi and welcome to the forum. The following should help with your images:

How to Add Images

Posting Requirements

Please embed your images rather than posting links and remember to use the 'Preview' button before submitting your post. If your images don't show up there we won't be able to see them either.

https://postimages.org (copy the 'Hotlink for forums' code) or http://www.tinypic.com (copy the 'IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards') are recommended. Both sites allow your images to be resized during upload.

For a quick summary see:

I am pretty sure from reading your description that we will be able to help you but we insist on seeing pictures - one picture really is worth a thousand words and helps to remove any ambiguity.

Phil
