Unknown hallmarks on oil lamp

Post by Shllydnls »

Need help with these unknown marks - no idea what country. They don’t appear to be British. First mark is a tombstone shaped cartouche with some sort of symbol in it - I can’t make it out. Second is a square shape with possible T/O or (turned upside down) C/L??/. Further to the right there is a letter H stamped but it is not in any cartouche, just the letter itself.

Many thanks for any help with this strange mark. I also have no odea what the purpose of the trough on top of this item is for. I’ve posted a separate question in the what;s it used for forum if anyone has info on the use.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

They are not hallmarks I'm afraid, as the item is silver-plated.

It's German, WMF, see: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=51466

Hello, this is part of a smoking set, a cigar lighter/lamp. Regards, Bahner
