Confusing Souvenir (?) Spoon

Post by Traintime »

Knowns: Stratford Silver Company Lylita Pattern (c.1909) Demitasse/Coffee spoon. Bowl carries crest known to be used on china (Maddock Pottery Works & Syracuse) produced for Hotel Rochester (1908-) in upstate New York. Long before it became used as an adjunct dormitory building, some people gave the hotel name as their address, so long-term residents are possible along with transient guests.

The oddity: The all capitols name "RITTENHOUSE". Usually related to Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia. Associated with the private and secretive Rittenhouse Club in addition to an old and long gone Hotel Rittenhouse. There is currently no known relationship between The Rochester and anything in Philadelphia, though the original investors were reported to be part of a company that needs to be researched.

Question: Would it seem unusual for a hotel or souvenir spoon to be personalized this way? All insane ideas are considered as to an explanation.
