Hi there
I've found some silver spoons with gold gilding that I am trying to find out some more about. I've hunted but haven't had any luck locating any details about the marks on the spoons. I'm hoping someone can enlighten me :)
Thanks in advance!
Identifying spoons - russian silver plated?
Re: Identifying spoons - russian silver plated?
Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.
The first mark indicates the country of origin, CCCP , the second identifies the actual factory. The letters MHU (cyrillic letters MNZ) and also called melkhior, is the alloy of which the spoons are made (copper (med in Russian), nickel and zinc). The others marks on the right indicate the set price of the item (4 Ruble - 30 Kopecks).
Hopefully another member can identify the actual factory.

Thank you so much! I was struggling to find confirmation of the country of origin. If I have any luck finding the factory I'll post an update :)
