Bearing 3 oz. mark, equated to half-way between Standard and Double, so basically about A1+/A++....probably acceptable for early commercial useage beyond households. Pattern dates (from elsewhere) indicate as early as 1880, though the firm's mark here is after 1882. Is Towle known to have engaged in commercial wares (my suspicion here based only on addition of periods after letters)? I know the triple part lightning mark can be found on old heavy flatware...is there a cut-off date on the mark seen here, or does it relate only to lesser grades/weights from this firm?
