James E Blake Teapot

I have a teapot that I believe is a James Blake (the JEB script is nearly identical to the JEBCo mark) but it is missing the Co at the end of the mark and the J is further to the left than normal. I'm thinking it is by Blake before the company was incorporated in 1898 but I haven't been able to find any other examples of his mark this way. Has anyone else seen this?
