I am posting this here because the first of the three marks is an anchor which led me to believe it is a Birmingham piece. what confuses me is the the third mark which looks to be russian. I have poured over the maker mark and hallmark sites for days and have found absolutely nothing. i know very little about silver or silverplate marks and would greatly appreciate any help on this.[img]http://imgur.com/m5jdx7a

The mark you show is definitely not Birmingham. When reading hallmarks it is necessary to take into account the full set as a whole, so for a Birmingham silver hallmark we would expect not just an anchor but also a lion passant, a date letter, possibly a duty mark and a sponsor's mark. That said, I have no idea about these marks, but for a better response from our members you would do better to embed your images as some people do not like to click on links.

Those 'anchor/star/eagle' pseudo-marks appear on the ferrules of pipes from different American makers, those with wear reveal brass base metal under what is likely nickel plating - more information might be found on pipe forums...

Thank you so much for your help everyone! Based on the suggestion that it may be nickel plated brass and also American, i finally found my answer. it is a feaux stamped nickel plated brass pipe made by C.P.F. or Colossus Pipe Factory which dates it between 1896 and 1920 based in New York.

Suspect the ferrules bearing these marks were manufacturered by a jobber - they appear on pipes by different companies...
