Sold as Australian, but no idea!

Postby bstaunto » Sun Dec 15, 2013 12:35 am

Hi,

Another set of spoons. These ones were sold as South Australian, but they aren't like any hallmarks I've seen on Australian silver (or other silver!).

They are small coffee spoons, the bowls are gilded.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Hi Ben,

I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint you. They are not Australian, and not silver.

That is the mark of the German company, WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik). If you search the forum you'll find a lot of their work. The I/0 mark indicates their regular silver plating.
