Help sought on William Page spoon marks

Hello,

I have a small spoon whose marks I have discovered show that it was made by William Page & Co. However, it is a slightly strange colour for silver and does not have an EP mark nor a solid silver one. I am hoping that someone can shed some light on what the other marks beneath the maker's ID mean...

Many thanks in advance,

Hi Paul,

Welcome to the Forum.

Your spoon would have originally been silver plated. The odd colour that that you've found is likely to be that of the base metal as the silver plating has been polished away over the years.

As with a majority of platers marks, they are probably meaningless, just applied to mimic silver hallmarks.
