Mystery Pendant Russian?
Hi ! I recently came across a beautiful lily of the valley pendant , which I assumed was sterling. Upon looking more closely at the mark , I noticed a number 56 present on a series of small horizontal lines with three bold vertical lines above. I have not been able to post pictures yet since I'm on my iPad , but will add my ohotos later. Sorry about this.
Did some research and found the number 56 coming up in Russian gold marks.
Can anyone help me please ?
Thank you very much in advance :)

Hi and thank you for your welcome :)
I'm sorry but I've tried to sign up with the suggested photo sites so that I can upload my photos of the pendant. No success so far I'm afraid .
But I will try again later !

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
The pendant is not Russian.
Looks like Danish (three towers of Copenhagen mark (and by coincidence the year 1956, NOT Russian 56 Zolotniki gold).
Take a look here:

Assay master`s and maker`s mark are missing,though.

Re: Mystery Pendant Russian?
Moving this to European jewelry, but there is very little doubt in my mind that this piece is the top of a spoon, cut off to make a pendant, with the other marks lost in the process. Fineness is most likely .830 rather than sterling, the flower is a Bluebell rather than Lily of the Valley...
An overview of Danish marks used 1893 and later can be seen here: http://www.925-1000.com/dm_General.html

Hi,
Excellent observation dragonflywink . I was suspicious about the position of the mark (as well as missing marks) and rather unprofessionally drilled hole right through the mark. There is no doubt about converted spoon top.

Wow Thank You Both for your detailed observations and responses!
Now I see , if I turn the pendant upside down - which would be the right way up for the original spoon, the flower is a bluebell .
Just a little disappointed that it isn't white gold though ;)
It came with a sterling chain .
Thanks again ! So glad I found this site :)
