Desperately seeking makers mark identification!

Post by Alexmrussell »

Hi, I am hoping that the knowledgeable folk on this forum will be able to help me with a maker's mark? I think that I have identified the hallmark as Sheffield Silver 1991 (although I may well be wrong) but I don't recognise the maker's mark, the initials JW in a pentagon shape:

The hallmark is on a silver bangle, given to me in 1992 for my 21st. It has a 'blob' of gold on it:

Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks for reading this :)

You may not get a positive response as there are no really good references for Sheffield marks from the last 100 years. Your best course of action would be to contact the Sheffield Assay Office directly, but note that there may be a charge for the service. If you do so and get an ID I am sure the forum would be interested to know the result.

I can confirm your identification of the hallmark as Sheffield, 1991.
