1971 Bob Hope Desert Classic Pro-Am Golf Tournament. Part of PGA Tour, played over 5 courses in Palm Springs*. Founded 1959 and re-named for the comedian in 1965. At least one other badge/pin/brooch (?) known. Exact useage unknown (award, participant pin, jus' jewelry, other?). Pretty sure this form of D&C mark has been on military wears (and maybe airline). Seems to scream Dieges & Clust of New York, but no exact matches or claims. Hard to see, but mark repeats in back center of gold colored portion--unknown metal. Hope's profile, normally used as part to the logo, is missing in this particular design. [*Arnold Palmer won the day for his 58th tour victory. Trevino won the year. Niklaus won the big cash.] Anyone know this D&C maker?
D&C Brooch/Jacket Pin
Re: D&C Brooch/Jacket Pin
For those with an interest in golf items, here is a Josten pin of non-precious metals but considerably more rare. Its is an actual contestant's pin from the first ever Pro-Am Tourney in 1937, the so-named Crosby Clambake played originally at Rancho Santa Fe. A young newly-turned professional out from the eastern states would win the event and go on to become one of the greatest golfers ever. His name was Sam Snead.
Re: D&C Brooch/Jacket Pin
Sorry for photo loss...apparently Postimages has bee locked out and quickly re-moved to a new address.
Re: D&C Brooch/Jacket Pin
A second pin matching the Crosby sample recently surfaced (eBay listing) having the same back fixtures. Presumably this would classify it as a tie tack rather than a hat pin or collar button.
