Interesting Japanese item.

Post by huszas76 »

Hello!
As I promised before, I post in the asian section too, if I have something.
A friend of mine showed me these pictures, and I'm courious about the details. So please, help, if you can.
My frind is a dealer, and he said, bought from an earlier (1975-1987) hungarian prime minister, who get from Japan as a representation gift.
Any information could be interesting for me!

Hello Krisztián

Rather unusual to see a recent pair of vases with a jungin mark but no maker's mark. I would expect they date from the period you mention (1970s-1980s) and that the maker's mark was not applied because they were intended as a state gift. The chrysanthemum seal is, of course, the imperial seal of Japan.

Regards,
