YCC YQC ??? Does any one know this hallmark?

Post by THESTIEFFCOMPANY.COM »

A reader of my site sent me a picture of a large set of sterling silver that looks very much like a Stieff set from the turn of the last century.. but the mark is all wrong. It looks like YCC or YQC or YQ Co.

I can not figure out how to EDIT my original post, so I have reposted.

A reader of my site sent me the two photos... thinking that they are a Baltimore maker of silver somewhere around the turn of the last century. The silver certainly looks like Baltimore Silver of that period.. but the YCC marks are nothing I have ever seen.

Does anyone know what these are ?? It looks like it could also be YOC, or YC Co (there is a pig tail swirl in the last C, that might be a Co.) The tea set is STERLING, the tray is silver on copper.

ALSO, I have emailed the publisher of the site http://www.925-1000.com several times about the dating charts for KIRK and STIEFF and issues with both, but have never gotten a response. Can someone suggest a better way to address the issue or a better contact method as I have never gotten a response despite about 8 emails over the last couple years.

Hi,

It's Chinese. The Y.C. Company, also known as Ye Cheng Co. were operating in Tientsin somewhere around the 1900-1930 period.

Drop me a PM with your issues and I'll try and help.
