I have a nice bowl but I don't know where it's from. I suppose it's from one of South-East Asia countries but the symbols are very similar to Arabic. Maybe anybody help me?
The bowl - from where?
Re: The bowl - from where?
Certainly from South-East Asia countries, most probably from Thailand.
Try to google "thai alphabet"
Someone more experienced will be able to confirm.

Please delete certainly in my previous message
I should have written :
I have a very similar bowl bought in Thailand, but bought in Thailand that does not necessarily mean made in Thailand.
Better to wait for a confirmation from someone else
Best regards

Hi amena!
Thanks for your help! Before creating this topic I looked alphabets of many countries of South-East Asia and the Middle East. The most similar characters I found in Arabic and Malay alphabets - it's the number 0 and 6. In the Thai alphabet similar characters do not. I think that both (my and your) bowls made by Malaysia.
Arabic numerals
Malay numerals
Thai numerals
Best regards. Alex.

Re: The bowl - from where?
Well I just researched another Malay object from Kelantan. Have a question in to admin on the silver content. Jawi script is a Malayasian variation on Arabic, the design here appears to be Hindu. Whether Muslim, Hindu, or Buddhist work Malay silversmiths may, may, all use the same standard Jawi letters and numerals. Can anyone confirm that?

Not Thai. Perhaps "swami silver" from Madras, Tamil Nadu, South India.
