Re: Early Dutch Mark?
Hi, To me, as a non expert the marks do definitely not look Dutch. I have seen the dumb-belt/halter before somewhere on the forum but not 100% sure about this either. To me the repose brandy bowl could be a replica in Neo rococo style perhaps made in Hanau. Let us wait what others have to say. Rega...

Early Dutch Mark?
Hello, I would be grateful for your expert opinion on the mark on this bowl which somewhat resembles early Dutch in design. Thank you. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/59/h0083l22477671.jpg/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://imageshack.us/f/28/h0083l22477672.jpg/&qu...

Re: Need help with London mark
Hi - great pieces - both of these - and an interesting riddle. A thought, is the mystery mark on the chocolate pot not a very rubbed second striking of the maker's mark. There seems to be an extra stroke on the mystery "M" which could be a down stroke of the P. Why the maker's mark would ...

Both the marks for comparison: http://i52.tinypic.com/3whuh.jpg http://i56.tinypic.com/vhdo1y.jpg http://i53.tinypic.com/2ev9np4.jpg http://i56.tinypic.com/2uykcps.jpg So, perhaps on the first example it was not the dateletter. If so what is it? Unlikely to be a journeyman's mark due to the positio...

Re: Help needed on a George III cream jugMark
Hi, It's Peter and Ann Bateman, the mark has been partialy off struck and then followed by two hundred years of polishing, but you can just still make out the base of the 'P' above the 'A'. The production of creamers was a big part of the output of the Bateman workshops. Trev. Hi, What a brilliant ...

Re: Need help with London mark
The hallmarks on the ale jug are placed on the side of the rim, an inch away from the spout.dognose wrote:Where abouts on the jug are the hallmarks placed?

Help needed on a George III cream jugMark
Hello, I have this Georgian cream jug with maker's mark 'AB' (please see the attached pictures). The on-line resouces have 'AB" in conjunction with 'PB'. I was wondering if you are familiar with any instances of Anne Bateman marking on her own, or could this be the mark of another maker that I ...

Need help with London mark
Hello, Could anyone kindly please shed some light on the age of this item, I believe an ale jug. When I checked the on-line marks, it seemd somewhat like Thomas Tearle's, but I was told it could possibly be from the 17th century or earlier. Given its rather un-sophisticated design, I am led to belie...

I P (Script ) on a 1759 London Coffee Pot
Hello, I am new to this forum. I would be grateful if any one could shed on the maker's mark of this 1759 London Coffee pot. It looks like John Pollock's, however, the problem is that he passed away in 1754. What adds to the complication is that the marks under the lid are obscured due to repair. An...
