Thank you

Re: Please help identifying
These are not hallmarks, do start look through the silverplates marks as you look up at the top of the page.
Good luck!

Re: Please Help! Maker?
First let correct my last post. Pince & Barnum were listed as jewelers and watchmakers in the Galveston Daily News from 1866-1868. Looked on every site I could think of using the letter O as a starting point. Actually not an O but a C. It's Jerome August Clark 1811-1885 of Batava NY. The example...

Re: Please Help! Maker?
Good evening Sister Eg, Just rechecking the mark for Albert Cole. Eagle over A over C in lozenge over right facing male profile. This is not the same mark. As preciously stated in an earlier post Prince & Barnum were listed as silversmiths and jewelers. In this case their mark would most likely ...

Jester,
Trying to look over the design motif, appears to be of a European style not what you would expect to see coming from traditional Persian/Iranian workshops. The shape and the way the feet are attached appear to 20th century.

Hello David,
Good to hear from you. I was also thinking of central to northern European but honestly do want to get a better look while we wait for an informed response

Re: arabic ,Moroccan silver tray
Jester,
Yes did note that both words have a double strike. The backwards B and the 4 may be some sort of internal factory code. Without other marks this may be silver-plate, do go over even the smallest marks carefully. Again would appreciate additional images of the tray and the border.

Re: Help Identify Asian silver Spoon Possibly Iranian
Good day 42jbb, The design and the work is not familar to me personally but looking at the fourth image, it does appear to read HOS 1735. May I ask you to reshoot closeup images of the stem and finial as well as the marks. Note: shoot them in indirect daylight, camera on the macro setting without fl...

Good day Jester, Was just speaking with an Egyptian friend who believes that the language is actually Farsi and not Arabic. That being said there should be others marks on this tray indicating silver purity. Please have a look around. And please do shot images in indirect day light without a flash, ...

Good morning Amena, Yes I can now recognize the sharp edge of the firing end of the shell casings. Do check the ends for dates, please shoot them if they are different from the other examples you posted. Yes artillery shells are produced in the millions, may have been stored for years. Either used b...

Re: Dots and 95?
Good day,
Spoke with a Muslim friend who is a Urdu speaker that teaches the Quran. He stated that this is actually Farsi or Persian and is the name of a particular Persian scientist whose name I can not recall. May it be possible to see the whole object?
Hope this helps

AG, Indulge me for a moment and look up the term/s. Just did so, found numerous examples of the same kind of work. You can not also exclude the fact that the craftsman himself may have been illiterate. True I have not as yet found a scholarly article that identifies it exactly, let me see if I can. ...

Goldstein,
First of all I appreciate all of the feedback I can from anyone who contributes even though we do not always agree. I consider many of the members friends of mine. This was one my earliest posts, I'm still learning. DRIVEL? You can take your drivel somewhere else.
Are we clear

Good day everyone, Let's see if we can narrow this down a little closer. And yes AG I completely agree with you about any Muslim's ability to read especially Quranic text properly. The first Brother is Egyptian, his only thought that it was supposed to be an opening Ayah or verse describing one of t...

Good day Amena, I asked two different Muslim brothers about the calligraphy. Both of them stated that there are Arabic letters there but the words make no sense. Egypt or Syria possible made for the export market. I have seen a number of vases and trays in the same style made of brass, silver overla...

Thank you Khan for rotating the images. The initials in the lozenge appear to be either H J or K J. Looking through the French makers marks on 925, was not able to identify the silversmith. Let's see if other members can assist you. The last two image did not post but please do me one more favor. Tr...
