Where is this snuff box from?
Hi, I am looking for information on this snuff box. It has what I thought initially was a French Minerva mark, but now I am not so sure. Any help gratefully appreciated. Trying to id this pattern
Hi, This 1884 Francis Higgins spoon is proving difficult for me to identify the pattern name. It has some similarities to the Onslow pattern but without the scrolled terminal, does anybody no the name of this pattern? Many Thanks, Martin. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/supermezz/spoonf_zpsvs...

Possibly Italian spoon
Hi, I am trying to identify this 800std spoon. It has a makers mark of AP below the figure of a poodle. I have found an old thread in the silverplate forum that appears to be the same maker http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13937 Does anyone have any ideas on country of origin and makers...

Hi, I initially thought this small pair of nips were made in Birmingham. They are marked sterling on one side, while on the other there is an anchor, a mark I can't decipher and a lion passant. Does anyone have any ideas on their origin? Many Thanks, Martin. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/su...

Re: Barber & Whitwell Example
Hi Trev,
Again that makes perfect sense. I wonder though why the same mentality didn't apply to somewhere like Newcastle, I have seen many pieces from there during this period where the leopards head has been omitted, but the Newcastle town mark is invariably struck.
Martin.

Re: Barber & Whitwell Example
Hi Trev, What you say would certainly make sense. However just a thought, York silver is generally sought after due to its relative scarcity, I wonder if this was the case when it was first made. If so you would imagine it would be in the makers interest to add the town mark, to more easily distingu...

Re: Barber & Whitwell Example
Hi Trev,
Do you know why that York pieces so rarely feature the town mark, outside of commissioned pieces such as those made for the Yorkshire Club where it seems to have been added by special request.
Regards,
Martin.

Marks on French spoon
Hi, I have taken these images of some marks on a French spoon. The cockerel, numbers 68 & 7 are fairly clear, the other mark which I assume is the makers mark I can't make out. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Martin. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/supermezz/mark2_zpsa15ee470.jpg http:...

Cigarette Case
Hi, I have taken this image of a very small mark on the inside of a cigarette case. It comprises a 935 std mark along with the initials AK. My guess is it's probably Swiss, but I would be grateful for others opinions and any help in identifying the maker. Regards, Martin. http://www.925-1000.com/td/...
