Thanks Cheryl & Peter.
Will not hold a lot of cigarettes Cheryl, happy I now have the answer as to the maker.

Colin

Re: Dutch? Unidentified Marks
Hi Peter, To small for either of those jobs, it measures 91mm in length, the end surface measures 33x29mm and it weighs 48g It takes British £2 coins standing up, only had two to hand so not enough to fill it and they are just a bit to small, maybe a Dutch coin slightly bigger would fit snuggly? Any...

Dutch? Unidentified Marks
Hello all, I wonder if anyone could possibly identify the marks on this piece which I am guessing would be for holding coins? I am putting in the Dutch section as the decoration looks Dutch but I dare say it could be German, any help with marks would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Colin https://i....

Re: Vinaigrette marked ROD Sterling
Hi AG,
This one if you held it and looked at it I think you would say 20th century, I am more of the mind its second half of 20th century, thought this would be an easy one as in someone would recognise this mark as its quite unique, thus far it still remains a mystery

Re: Common to not hallmark ?
Thanks Ag for your thoughts.
I think I will hand it into Edinburgh Assay Office for testing and marking, the downside is an old piece is going to have modern marks if it passes assay which I believe it will.

Common to not hallmark ?
Hello all, I was wondering, when it comes to gold and in this instance a vinaigrette which is not marked at all, was this common on such pieces of gold? To me as it stands and I have been over every mm of it with a loupe its gold all day long, yellow and rose gold. Obviously without marks its imposs...

Vinaigrette marked ROD Sterling
Hello all. This one I thought would be an easy find but for some reason I have not been able to trace this maker, on a vinaigrette which I think is 20th century. Any assistance on the maker as ever would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Colin https://i.postimg.cc/QdLr6Vqd/P2800717.jpg https://i.post...

Identification of French maker of Snuff Box
HI all. I wonder if anyone can determine the maker of this French silver gilt snuff box? Across the diamond it would appear to be C&CC or maybe C(crown)CC looks like the letter A at the top of the mark. Thanks in advance. Regards, Colin https://i.postimg.cc/sfk3NFqj/P2800188.jpg https://i.postim...

Identification of C.L.B Mark
Hello all, I wonder if anyone recognises this C.L.B mark, either the maker or even possibly it was made by someone and this C.L.B may have been the retail outlet of the piece. As super piece hallmarked London 1925 and weighing in at a hefty 126 troy ounces. Any assistance would be greatly appreciate...

Re: Help with T.W&Co
Many thanks, That was the maker I had came up with and had dismissed purely because I did not see this identical mark on the site I used. Many thanks for that, I am guessing even without using the word 'coin' as is sometimes seen with American boxes that was common, as in not all pieces marked coin ...

Help with T.W&Co
Hello all, I wonder if anyone can assist with this maker on this snuff box, I am placing in the American section as I believe it to be American, silver all day long but no 'sterling' or 'coin' mark. https://i.postimg.cc/L4yLfKZQ/P2800001.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/kXzS1Qsx/P2800002.jpg https://i.posti...

Re: Armorial or Heraldic Identification
A million thanks for this latest update.
I had googled many searches and never came across this page, excellent help I must say.
My knowledge on this area is close to zero so I do tend to struggle finding a starting point.
Regards,
Colin

Re: Armorial or Heraldic Identification
Many thanks for your thoughts.
I have looked up this and can see a resemblance to that, it would I think because of date be the 5th Earl of Chesterfield if we are on the correct path, it may have altered slightly with each Earl but kept the main body of the design?
Regards,
Colin

Re: Help with Pseudo Marks
Thanks for your thoughts, I think the American route is the most probable .
I will consider it probably/possibly of the American origin

Unidentified Makers Mark
