James,
The marks are actually upside down, an Arabic speaking friend stated that the mark on what would be the left in the proper position reads pure silver. Was not clear on the other mark but added that there should be a date mark somewhere.
Hope this helps

Neurorocker,
Was hoping for a response on your spoons, had just purchased one of a similar design but not as old. Let's try a bump to see if someone responds.

Re: Makers Mark Help On Mexican Necklace
Thanks again Alex, Will spend some time getting aquinted with Goodspeed's style and work. Please allow me to take that thought in one more direction. Is it possible that AJ refers to a silversmith who worked with or directly for Bernice Goodspeed? Again have observed other modern/contemporary pieces...

Re: Mexican Silver Brooch, Eagle stamp, VHLC, Guad
Sir, Your mark reads Plata de Jalisco a firm or retailer in Guadalajara Mexico. There are a number of pieces out there that also bear the initials V.H.L.C. Was attempting to access the Little Book of Mexican Silver but you can not access page 239 online. With luck another member with a hard copy can...

Re: Makers Mark Help On Mexican Necklace
Thank you Alex, Had been waiting to see how this post worked out. Was intrigued myself by the fine design. There are several smaller pieces out there stamped TJ-19 with the rope/knot design, none were identified. Although one post indicated at the initials AJ were in the center. Mark not shown. Othe...

Leonardo1,
Your pitcher is by Casa Prieto Mexico City at Av. Juarez 40. Found on page 36 of The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks Hecho en Mexico. Was described in 1946 as a manufacturer of silver articles. Melon ribbed body.
Hope this helps.

Carlos, This a very old post but the image just struck me. If it is in fact Bolivia or South American, it may a riding crop. Found another example from Bolivia that was silver cylinders over woven leathers strips. The rings may have once held Bolivian coins. Your hand would have slide through the ch...

Hi,
Was attempting to read the mark myself with difficulty, did find a pair of domed encrusted errings that read Feris TB-118 Mexico 925. May or may not be of some help.

Berber influenced Moroccan bracelet & broach
[/img] Picked up this approximately 1950s Moroccan silver bracelet and broach set some time ago that has been influenced by traditional Berber design. The Arabic letters you see are detached as a design element only. There is a particular Berber village that produced...

Re: Danish silver spoon by Christian Rasmussen
That script is wrapped around the stem on the 1881 Vilhelm Christesen spoon that I own. The images of the Virgin and Saint Olaf are exactly like AG's above. And yes to a Catholic that makes perfect sense. Other ways of saying that would be "all is as God wills it" or "God's will be do...

AG I agree, it's a fine example.
Hose,
May I ask you to have a look at the additional script on the Christesen spoon which appears as:
I + VEL + OG + VEE + GUDS + VILLIE + SKEE +
Would appreciate any information you can provide.

AG2012 Thank you so much for posting these images of your Rasmussen spoon. Your comments on its symbolic content were questions I also asked concerning a Vilhelm Christesen Baptismal spoon, also referred to as a christening or Chrism spoon. The bowl like yours portrays the Christ child, Virgin Mary,...

Tipton,
Used my iPad to expand the hallmark, first number appeared to be an 8. Found no artist for TC-80. Some possibilities from The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks... were:
TC-03 JGM
TC-90 FCE
TG-38 CFA
TG-89 SGJ
Good luck on your search.

Gentlemen, In was not uncommon for the person who had made a significant donation to the building of a church to be portrayed holding a model in his hands. Re: Need help in identifying these marks...it may be French
Trevor, The crown with large capital F caught my eye, looked up the coat of arms for King Farouk of Egypt and Sudan. There does seem to be a match there. Note the crescent moon with star at the top of the crown which appears in Farouk's monogram and insignia. He reigned from 1936-1952, your date of ...
