Hi,
I have a Russian table spoon hallmarked for Moscow 1890. I believe the assayer is Lev Fridirikhovitch Oleks but I am having trouble identifying the maker, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Martin

Re: Birmingham maker
Hi,
I can't make out the first letter to clearly, but there is a Birmingham maker from this time period called W. O. Lewis (W.O.L) and he did make this type of item.
Regards,
Martin.

Unknown marks on spoon
Hi, I am not even sure this is provincial or colonial (admin please move if appropriate), however due to the presence of what appears to be a thistle I have posted here. This is a large and heavy basting spoon and has just the 2 punch marks as shown. I would be grateful if anybody can point me in th...

Re: JW above WH - Mystery Maker
Hi Trev,
I have been looking around and have seen some examples were the Hannay and Howden marks have been struck separately. However I have found no example with a single punch containing both makers initials. Hopefully somebody else may be able to cast further light on this mark.
Regards
Martin

Re: JW above WH - Mystery Maker
Just a thought Trev, the WH could possibly be for William Hannay who's mark has been seen with that of J W Howden (JWH). In this case the H is absent, maybe a spurious link but just a thought.

Re: Help needed to interpret maker's mark
Thanks Warren. Its almost as if its been deliberately disguised to be unreadable, doesn't seem consistent with normal wear.

Help needed to interpret maker's mark
Hi, This George III meat skewer is clearly marked except for the maker's mark, which I am struggling to identify. Does anybody have any clues as to who it might be? Many Thanks Martin http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/supermezz/SAM_1128_zpsdfd6a56d.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/sup...

Two maker's marks on decanter label.
Hi, I have this decanter label hallmarked for Birmingham 1829. It has 2 maker's marks, that of Ledsam, Vale & Wheeler and also that of Wheeler & Cronin. I know that the Wheeler of W&C was Mary Wheeler, was she also the the maker in the LV&W parnership? If so is it likely that this wa...

Re: Cigarette case possibly Russian
Hi Zolotnik, Many thanks for your response that's really helpful. Looking at your images I just wish mine still had the signatures as they transform the object. I wonder why someone removed the signatures from mine, or maybe they were never applied in the first place for some reason. Regards, Martin

Cigarette case possibly Russian
Hi, I would be grateful for any information on this cigarette case. It is a combined cigarette case and vesta holder, and judging by the many holes it would probably have had facimile signatures applied at one time. Can anyone confirm its origin and who the maker may have been? Many Thanks Martin. h...

Hi, Can anybody help me identify the origins of this snuff box? It has two sets of marks, one on the outside of the lid and the other on the lip of the base. Re: T&Co unknown mark
Just a thought, I was under the impression that the 925 mark post 1976 featured balance scales as part of the mark. Could the date letter be for 1917 or even 1942, or was the 925 mark without the scales still used post 1976?

Help to identify maker
Hi, My knowledge of Russian silver is slight to say the least, so I would be grateful for any help identifying the maker of this spoon please. Assayed in Moscow 1872 by Vladimir Stepanovic Smirnov?, there appears to be two maker's marks, any ideas? Regards, Martin. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/...
