Re: Is this Italian?

Very interesting. I've never seen this mark before.
The punching has a definite Tuscan feel, but the L might suggest Lucca instead of Florence. However I do not know what the 6 can mean.
We are eager to have the confirmation that the ladle is solid silver, as it seems.

Re: Unsure of hallmark; does it say different things

The 1 AR company answered my question confirming what I had anticipated We confirm that the punching 333 corresponds to the 8 carat fineness The 18k punching has no value since the legislation requires that the amount of metal used in the alloy must necessarily be expressed in thousandths Best Amena

Re: Unsure of hallmark; does it say different things

Thes hape of the mark 1 AR is the one in use before 1970. The most probable hypothesis is that it is gold 333/1000, a fineness admitted by Italian law at that time, and that the 18k refers only to the gilding. However the 333 gold has a specific weight of about 10, while the 18 K has a specific grav...

Re: Double wood handled bowl ore quaich

Your bowl is probably an ember bowl, an object that was used to light cigars or pipes before the invention of matches. I know it was a very popular object in Spain, but I can not help you with the marks.

Re: A PUNCH STRAINER

HI legrandmogol
thank you very much for your answer, I really needed an opinion.
The mystery remains of what the mark next to the shell is (green arrow). I do not know what it could be.

Please tell me what you think about.
Thanks again

A PUNCH STRAINER

Hi all I found this punch strainer, about 11 cm wide, which I think is from London. https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg I say "I think" because the hallmarks is really barely visible, I think they have been deleted specifically to leave room for th...

A ladle

I acquired this ladle, for punch, I suppose.
It is made of silver but has no hallmarks, only the initials G W. Can anyone suggest some hypothesis on where and when this ladle was made?

Thanks for attention

Re: Asian dragon bracelet

The only thing that can be inferred from the fact that the bracelet is not magnetic is that it is made neither of iron nor of nickel.
It could be made of copper, brass, gold, bronze, tin, aluminum, zinc ........

Re: Russian box

Excuse me if I'm pushy, but I'm just trying to learn. I found the photo of this box among Sotheby's auction results, also attributed to Ovchinnikov. There is no photo of the hallmark, but, given the name of the auction house, one should assume that the attribution is correct. https://www.925-1000.co...

Re: Russian box

Hi Goldstein your opinion cheers me up, there is someone else who thinks that this object is not noteworthy. I asked someone's opinion, because I did not realize how someone had already offered a huge amount of money for this box that I would not buy even for a tenth of that amount. But I suspect th...
