Re: What to think about it?
Thank you all for the time you grant to me! As I first discover sterling silver through hallmarks (at the beginning especialy french sterling silver hallmark), it remains hard to me to "understand" the style of a manufacturer mark, especialy russian. For instance, looking the topic on fabe...

Re: What to think about it?
You will have my opinion but first look for more marks. I miss maker's mark, the actual Russian assaying mark with the assayer, fineness and year. Additional marks should be on the body. The marks you show are "sub marks" on the handle. It being a Faberge object is less than minimal. (my ...

And one more thing (or mistake to be precise): "Searching the history of these hallmarks, I found some tracks about them: hallmark on the left side of the basket looks to be polnish; on the right part, the mark at the bottom looks like russian hallmark from 1899-1908 (Postnikova p.258-259) ; th...

Re: What to think about it?
Hi Dognose, I was thinking the right side hallmarks did not appear on my previous post (may be because I was reading the reply of Qrt with my tablet). And beacause of a lack of skills in english, I was thinking Qrt. replies he saw only one hallmark, the one on the left side... Anyway... My friends, ...

Re: What to think about it?
Thanks for answering Qrt.s! If you did not I won't how badly I cut m'y picture! ;-) Of course 3 other marks are missing and of course i'm not skilled enough to say it is Fabergé juste seeing the design of the basket!!! :-) I soon as my baby wake up, i will replace the wrong pic by the good one! My a...

What to think about it?
Hi everybody! Here is a russian (?) sterling silver basket. Searching the history of these hallmarks, I found some tracks about them: hallmark on the left side of the basket looks to be polnish; on the right part, the mark at the bottom looks like russian hallmark from 1899-1908 (Postnikova p.258-25...

Re: New item, new research
Damned! I would not think about Greece! My lack of langage skills made me think about cyrillic letters! And combinated with "92", which is a russian old standard... I also agree that the style of the bowl is definitely different from 18th russian objects! To conclude, many thanks to you, I...

One more thing: judging from the style of the bowl, I'm really doubting it can be from the XVIII, don't you?

New item, new research
Hi everybody! I'm back with a new research on the hallmarks of a silver sterling bowl. Thanks to the TARDY book, i find the "92" hallmark as a russian XVIIIth silver mark; same thing in the Postnikova-Loseva. But when I tried to find the maker's name, nothing in those litteratures especial...

Re: Need help identifying a silversmith
Dears Friends, going to take some other pics of my tea pot, i made a discovery which I consider as a real shame: my tea pot is silver plated! How? Just by testing the metal I was sure to be sterling silver.... I quote myself: "even if i think i'm able to see differences between sterling and pla...
