Hello, I agree this might very well be an oldfashioned "z" (in script) from a 5th series of date letters. Best wishes, Bahner

Hello, the style is so much Hanau, VSF did not make silverware like that and the VSF mark just looks different. This mark reminds me of that of Dingeldein, Hanau. Cannot see it too clearly, though. Best wishes, Bahner

Hello, there is a nice book on "navy silver" in Germany, written by Ellmers and published in 1989, called "Maritimes Silber". It does not mention spoons like that, so maybe it was uncommon in Germany or the "bribery" was done in a more subtle form. Best wishes, Bahner

Hello, looks like the mark of Scharffenberg, mentioned in Dresden between the 1830ies and the 1940ies. He was a jeweller and goldsmith, so he might have been just the retailer of these pieces. The pattern is known as Knotenmuster (knot pattern) in German and was available from almost all major Germa...

Hello, there was a maker A. Leclerc whose mark included a star and a halfmoon. I have no further info on him. The 18 is for the amount of silver used in electroplating. The style is Art Dèco, around 1930. Best wishes, Bahner

Hello, looks like Hamburg 1853 - ca. 1865. Maker F.P. is not listed by either Scheffler or Schliemann. Might be Friedrich Peters, born 1812, active 1841-1877. Best wishes, Bahner

Hello, this piece bears the maker's mark of Friedrich Jobst Wohlrab, apprentice since 1687, master since 1710, still mentioned in 1740. Beware of later reproductions - Nürnberg silver was highly valued. Best wishes, Bahner

Hello, looks indeed like German silver around 1860. I believe this rather reads as an oldfashioned "JS" or "IS". There are several makers with marks very similiar to this one, so without a city mark there is little chance of identifying the maker. Best wishes, Bahner

Hello, this is Polish plate, ca. 1900/1920. Maker is probably W. Bienkowski from Warszawa, the A II is for the second highest quality of plating, 36 cl. is for 36 Centiliter (that is how much liquid fits into one of the objects displayed, less than a tenth of a gallon- the small one, for milk ?). Be...

Hello, there is one match I found: "M14C", Moerkerk from Haarlem. The mark has the same shape as an Amsterdam mark. He was active 1928-1952, which would imply that the date letter is not the D for 1913 but the D for 1938. That seems possible, because the two D's are much alike. But I wonde...

Hello, the marks are all WMF marks, the additional N indicates the base metal nickel silver. The I/O is for the standard plating used by WMF: 1 gramm of fine silver spread on 10 by 10 centimeters. The placing of the marks has no meaning, the designer is not known. Best wishes, Bahner

Hello and congrats, beautiful pieces. You are right about this being Dutch, marked in 1913. The little key is an export mark, so these pieces traveled somewhere else. The head with the letter A (for Amsterdam) is the export mark. The maker's / exporter's mark is the flat rectangle (specific form for...

Hello, Hamburg, maker is Johann Friedrich Brahmfeld, active 1816-1852. The letter in the town mark is that of the warden and would allow a rough dating. But I cannot see it clearly on my screen. Best wishes, Bahner
