Re: Khlebnikov spoon???
Correct Dad, my mistake, a typo. I meant to write Jefimovitsh or in English actually Yefimovich but my fingers slipped ;-))). Anyway, do we agree that Cyrillic E is Ye or in my language Je. Transliteration problems as often with Russian names/letters. The reason for the difference in the working per...

Re: Khlebnikov spoon???
Hmmmmm...some minor doubts..., but anyway, FYI! The assayer is not unknown. He is Ivan Jestimovitsh Konstantinov. His working period in Moscow was 1876-1882 unless otherwise proved (not 1872-1881).

Re: Please help to identify the spoons makers-7?
It is a known fact that Sazikov won a gold medal in the World fair in London in 1851. It shows the profile of queen Victoria and prince Albert. However, what is completely unclear is that did they punch the medal mark on their silver. To my understanding they didn't and they did not either punch a m...

Re: Photo frame — help with the mars
The frame is made in St Petersburg in Russia in 1846 as the mark also shows. The assayer is Dimitrij Tverskoij 1834-1854. The frame is in silver 875/1000. Unfortunately the maker is unknown to me. However, I cannot access my library right now. I will revert to this matter later if I find something o...

Re: Crackdown In Moscow - 1890
Hi Trev, Yes it is correct that the Nemirov-Kolodkin company was one of the bigger factors in Russia regarding silverware. Right now I have not access to my library. Later I can revert to this case and tell you more about them if you are interested. But about the punches. Yes it is pure speculations...

Re: Crackdown In Moscow - 1890
Interesting document presented by dognose, thank you. However, nothing is ever water proof in any country not even in imperial Russia. But as you can see from the document the crooks were caught as many other crooks were too and sent to Siberia without pardon. My opinion is that we shall irrespectiv...

Re: Help with identification the Hallmark on a ring please.
Your ring is not from Poland. The mark is not quite clear but as far as I can see it is made in Riga in the Soviet Republic of Latvia the in the former Soviet Union between 1927-1954. The Greek letter tau indicates that. However, the "tau" could bee seen as Greek pi and that would be Sverd...

Re: Help With These Russian? Marks
Forget Russia and St. Petersburg. The mid mark is not a Russian mark. The Minerva head is a French mark actually Paris 1838-1973 as also indicated by Oel. Sorry but the maker is unknown to me.

Re: Why two Makers Marks or are there two?
Hello Oel, You are both right and wrong. The assay charter of 1861 stipulates that soldered parts can be left unmarked but other parts must have marks (hinged, riveted etc...). In 1879 the charter states that the main part must carry the whole set of hallmarks while the other parts are marked with t...

Re: Why two Makers Marks or are there two?
Yes some close-ups would be nice. Please show all possible marks on an object. According to the Russian legislation every detachable part must be marked. That means that, as an example, the tea pot must have marks on the body, on the bottom ring, on the handle, on the spout and on the inside of the ...

Re: Need to ID Town and Maker GFH or CFH on Swedish Beaker 1
Yes it is a Swedish beaker. The maker is Carl Fredrik Hedin (C:F:H:) 1811-1836 (1845) in Örebro (The winged bird) . Originally his name was C. F. Elmgren but he adopted his stepfather's family name Hedin. He was born 1782 in Jönköping and married Catharina Elisabeth Alsterberg. Hedin was married ...

Re: Why two Makers Marks or are there two?
I'm sorry but this time I must disagree with you Zolotnik. I don't see any problems with the marks, quite ordinary marks for NP. Please note that Nichols and Plinke (1829-1870) used many marks. Here they are: N·P, NP, KA, N.P., PK N&P, N&P MAG·ANG and N:P. If somebody wonder what this MAGÂ...
