Re: Teapot - cannot identify all the marks

Hi, The top mark is ofcourse the left facing lion with paw raised which indicates solid sterling silver. The mark on the right is the date letter "m" which indicates the year 1847. The bottom mark is the queen victoria monarchs mark which indicates the piece dates from 1837-1890. The left ...

Can anyone identify this maker?

Hi all- This is a lovely little vesta. It is gilded silver and turquoise guilloché enamel and the thumbpiece is set with a little rose cut diamond, typical of a piece like this. There is damage to the enamel on one side although the other side is perfect. I know this piece dates to around 1900 as t...

Re: Teapot - cannot identify all the marks

Hi, This is a nice teapot you have here, in a nice design. The date letter on this item is for 1847. I will check my books later when I have access to them for the maker, although someone else will probably beat me to it in the mean time! It is most likely William Chawner or William Cooper but perha...

Hi Ivan,
How many hallmarks are on the item? Is it just the one set that you have already pictured?

Re: Napkinring

Hi,
The kokoshnik mark is a fake mark. Look at the number 4 in the 84 - it is the wrong shape.
The other marks are a bit too rubbed for my liking. Also, I cannot find the OP mark anywhere.

Fake kokoshnik + КФ + Unknown mark = Very suspicious.

Re: STIRRUP CUP BY SAMUEL ARNDT

2.Henrik Wigström was supposed to have kokoshnik hallmark because he took over Perkhin`s worksop in 1903 when Perkhin died. Second, fake hallmarks cannot be punched over Guilloché enamel. Henrik Wigström made silver in his own workshop after Perkhin` s death and I leave to snobs to cherish his w...

I also wanted to contribute with my Russian regimental badges (not for the sake of their value I know everything about it, but to discuss the way they were enameled(translucent enamel needs lower temperatures, opaque is heated to over 800 degrees. How did they manage to execute both in one single f...

Re: Firm of Sazikov

Well piette, you gonna stumble into this problem with contradictory data many times. This is nothing new. But know what data is correct is more than difficult. You just have to stick to what you can find. This is what I have in my sources: Sazikov was on of the best and famous companies in Moscow a...

Re: Is this real silver?

Hi Qrt.S,
Am I right in thinking that there was also a 10th Moscow Artel which has been associated with Fabergé? Or is too little known about this Artel to make any connection?

To add to this list, I bevlieve the 11th Moscow Artel (11A) and the First Jeweller and Engraving Artel of Kiev also supplie...

Re: RED PATINA ON SILVER ?

Hi, Doesn't this mean that items from Tula, Nizni and Novgorod were sent to Moscow for hallmarking as opposed to having assay offices of their own? I think this is most likely. My opinion again - I believe that the redness in areas on the photo is actually reflected from the surroundings when the ph...

Hi Argentum49, Are you sure the 6th Moscow Artel worked for Moscow? I have nothing that says the 6th Artel worked in conjunction with Fabergé. Although my reference does say the 6th Artel were a court supplier, there is no mention of Fabergé. Regards, Piette Sorry, this is meant to read "Are...

Firm of Sazikov

Hi everyone, Yesterday, I was looking through books for information on The Firm of Sazikov. I looked in P-L (#2835) and in Руссое Серебро and found a great deal of information, but the information from the books contradicted each other and various dates were different. Here are the two ...
