Re: Very odd spoon
Hi welcome to the forum.
Your fat porridge spoon could be made out of pewter or perhaps even lead. The front side looks chemically darkened or painted; to look like ‘old’ patina. I believe it to be a recent made copy and perhaps scratch-marked by the maker.
Oel.

Hi,
Believe it to be a Celtic/Scottish cloak pin/kilt pin with green onyx. Perhaps made late 19th-early 20th century.

Hi, Perhaps this will clarify the matter. City of Nijmegen in the province of Gelderland. “Grote keur” or 1st standard; always city mark of Nijmegen; the double headed eagle with a date letter. In the beginning of the 18th century a crowned N was added. See below for the 1st standard; city mark, the...

Re: What is this tool, no marks, but probably American
Hi, Nothing much to add but if my memory serves me correct, I believe I have read in a medical magazine; during the ages, the doctor/surgeons experimented to have their operational skills improved for the benefit of the patient. Those ‘pioneers’ designed their own medical instrumentation and had the...

Hi Dendriet, Good to read you’re enjoying the summer and done some great work. I am offshore and do not have access to my library but the book; “L.B. Gans, Goud-en Zilvermerken van Voet”, starts by stating that there are still plenty of omissions and uncertainties about the Dutch guild marks and how...

Hi, for what’s worth my opinion, http://imageshack.us/a/img10/8256/qv8l.jpg To me it looks like a modern copy of a miniature painting/pendant in a gold frame. The import date could confirm our suspicion. For comparison: http://imageshack.us/a/img856/6456/mgw.jpg The painting is signed by the artist....

Re: Id maker of Victorian Glasgow Silver Ladle
Hi,
Correct me if I am wrong but I believe this date letter Z to be for; Glasgow 1844 and the makers' mark AC could be for Alexander Coghill 1837-1856, his mark seen on flatware.

Hi Richard, Do not worry, it is not illegal and certainly not to be scrapped. It is a nice little miniature tea kettle. The tea kettle has the legal Dutch standard mark for small work, the sword mark for; minimum .833 fineness, used 1814-1905, with export key to indicate 2/3 marking duty restitution...
