Hi Miles,

Would it be possible to have a clearer picture for the maker's mark. There are more than 300 containing a star and I would like to make sure that it is a T. Could it be V & H instead of T & H.

Thanking you in advance for your reply

Dear Pat, Many thanks for your advise which also goes with my first feeling. Esterbrook is very known as dip pen and nibs maker. I just was not sure they were also silversmith.

Thanks again for your time and efforts.

Hello Kristina, I have some pieces which are similar to yours and they are dating around 1890-1900. When the British were occupying, the local aristocraty developped a silversmith activity. So pieces were having an occidental shape but with Buddhist design. I attach a picture of one of these pieces....

Hello, I have the feeling it could be from Thailand or India and marking was not compulsory in these countries. It looks like the statues of gods you find in the bouddhist temples.

Of course, I cannot be very specific.

Dear Athos, what his difficult is because you cannot decifer what is in the Helmet because it could give an indication for the region. I know that there was a maker with GJ as initials in the East of France, namely Strasbourg in the same date period and he was specialised in cups, chalices and churc...

Dear Heidi,

Regarding the B mark in a star. Is it contained in a diamond shape ?

If yes, it can be the hallmark for Eugene BERTHET of Joinville Le Pont near Paris who was registered on 23.10.1908 and stopped operation on 11.06.1913,

Dear Heidi,

We can reasonnably say that it has been made by Marius COSSON, 10 rue Roli, Paris who was registered on 15.03.1911.

The hallmark is MC with a diamand containing a dot.

So I guess it could be this one.

Hope I could help

Dear Heidi, The swan with the letter P could mean it had been imported in Paris.

Regarding the MC mark could you please confirm that it is in a losange form.

Hello Heidi, Definately French silver 950. The mark in the losange is is the maker's mark. If you could be more specific on the "small thing" I could tell you who the maker is as there is 16 possibilities with MC. Globally speaking, it would be preferable to have pictures because as per yo...
