Hi, If you rotate your image 90 degrees to the right you might recognize the maker’s mark, a hammer between two Z for; Zaanlandse Zilversmederijen n.v./b.v., Haarlem & Amsterdam mark used 1920/1990. See below: http://imageshack.us/a/img547/526/6qct.jpg http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php...

Re: Hermes Paris Letter opener
Hi Welcome to the forums,
If the letter opener lacks any French silver hallmarks and the maker's mark is in a square, not a lozenge, the letter opener could well be silver-plated and perhaps made around 1950-1960

Hi Emma,
To my knowledge the Old Dutch wagons, in Dutch called huifkar, often had a pair of oversized back wheels compared to the smaller front pair. I wouldn’t rule out South African or America in connection with (Dutch) Europian settlers.

Yes, crowned o duty mark, seen in many variations and we know we do not like to pay duty tax and perhaps a faked duty mark but a very niece piece, let it be.
