Re: Help with maker, missing hallmark

Hi,
I think half of the mark is missing.
It looks like the right side of Constantine & Floyd Ltd (one of many marks they used).

Besides, it is 1911 as far as I can tell, and Art Nouveau style, matching the period of their activity.

Re: A strange mark

Hi Amena,
The mark in PL is unknown maker in Kyiv 1892 - after 1908. Before 1892 the mark was associated with Moscow assay office. After 1908 (your mark) there is a letter H for Hаследники (heirs).
Kyiv coat of arms is on the right.

Re: Silver earrings - Maker MG - Unknown pseudo mark - ID?

C left and 4 right, the shape of the mark and barely recognizable, what is supposed to be lions head, looks like Austria- Hungary Empire silver mark used 1872-1922. Letter C is Prague assay office and number 4 indicates .750 fineness. The mark was used for small objects. Prague silversmiths are not w...

Re: Continental Silver Cup Goblet

There was no fraudulent intention whatsoever; as soon as the maker marked it with 800, he dated the footed beaker in late 19th or early 20th century. Looks well made, embossed by hand. If there are no more marks (hallmark indicating the country of origin, one can only speculate Germany or Italy beca...

Re: BRANDS ON GLASS OF RUSSIAN VODKA

There is something confusing here (at least for me). The engraved date is 2.I 59. (January 2nd, 1959). Why would someone engrave this date on 1968 cup ? It could be 1958,i.e. made after May 7th 1958 when new star mark was introduced. The engraved lettering looks Latin, another mystery for me, possib...

Most likely Hungarian; there seems to be assay office P for Pest and Sz letters are indicative of Hungarian name, unless the jeweler of Hungarian origin worked elsewhere in The Empire, but there is letter P for Pest.

It is МЮ8 ( Ю being one of the letters of the Russian alphabet). МЮ is the abbreviation for М осковская ю велирная фабрика (Moscow jewelry factory). Numeral 8 after МЮ is date code for 1968. (1958 had the same date code but the state official mark was worker`s head in profile and hammer). Star mark ...
