Like PaulH I have also had George Smith duty dogded spoons, one I remember, was GS four times in the similar script as this spoon.

Interesting theory and you could be on to something. I have had one spoon with the MA and tree mark on before, I think I remember posting it on here back then, it was a few years ago.

I would say it is Joseph Rodgers, but this is their silverplate mark, not silver
