Your lovely box is Hamburg by Johann Diedrich Laué, 1792-97 learning in the atelier of his father Johann Gottlieb Laué. 14.9.1808 he is inaugurated as master.

Please help ID candle sticks

Could somebody help me with this pair of candle sticks? Found them in a Jerusalem antics shop... The first hallmark 800 with a B - upright down? The second hallmarks is two times A on the stem. Here you have a little beaker, 6 cm high, 6,5 cm diameter, made in one piece. It looks a bit russian, but the scarcely visible stamps are not. There are 2 letters on the left of the centre pic like V.L. - up and on the right is something like a sailing ship. The punctured letters read C v ... 1812. ...

Hi Adrian, sorry to intrude with a different oppinion. The photos are not extremely sharp, its difficult to recognize the shield around the year stamp. But for me its sure to be 1897 and original of the time. A William Holland is found 1878 in Brian Loomes vol.2 and with all the tiny repair inscript...

I bought this little bowl, 8 cm diameter in a german antics shop. I found the stamps in the dutch "area", y for 1857 and so on, but not the makers stamp Nr 5 in the picture, nor the stamp Nr 3. Is this the stamp of an elderman or some office? Who can help? Thank you in advance - wolfgang h...

In the adress book of Hamburg, Germany for 1820 you can find a silversmith and jeweller Jr. Gans Aron. You should find the arms of Hamburg "3 towers with door" + a letter for the elderman on your candle sticks. Perhaps you can make a photo of the other stamps to better confirm Aron of Hamb...

Hi, its typical to have both german and swiss hallmarks on watches of this time, early twentieth century, watches being built in switzerland and exported to germany.
