Re: Could this be Old Sheffield Plate?

Hi Adam, On the face of it, I see no reason why the piece should not be OSP, but judging for that style of manufacture from images alone in an absolute minefield. A lack of marks is often the case with OSP, and often just a small workman's' mark is all there is to be found struck. In this case what ...

Hi Mia, Welcome to the Forum. I think this just another of the many trade terms used on gold filled jewellery. See: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=40047 The '2' may be an internal factory reference, perhaps relating to size. The other letters maybe 'Rolled' (marked upside dow...

Hi Sherry, Welcome to the Forum. http://www.925-1000.com/td/f/London/Import-IBB-1975.jpg These are London import marks, so the only information it will provide is the import date into the UK, in this case 1975. Asprey would have been the retailer, IBB, unknown to me, the importer. Please remember in...

An interesting snippet of information from 1924, that suggests an interruption in the business of The Continental Silver Co. The business now appears to be in the hands of W.C. Newland and A.E. Warshavsky (son of Aaron W. Warshavsky?). The Continental Silver Corporation, New York, Incorporated with ...

Re: Help with 14K gold hallmark

Hi Toni, To be honest, I don't think this is the Canadian mark, I think this is the German silver mark. In Germany, the gold/silver marks are not applied by an assay office, but by the maker's themselves, using their own punches, this is why we see such a wide variety of this style of mark. Best cas...

Re: Help with 14K gold hallmark

Hi Toni,

The Canadian gold mark in the 1930's was, to my knowledge, a crown within a 'C'. The German gold mark was a crown within a circle.
