So I contacted the Württembergisches Landesmuseum in Stuttgart - they were extremely helpful: it is "Gold- und Silberarbeiter" Christoph Jacob Nikolaus (=Rufname) Häberle , son of "Silberarbeiter" Johann David Häberle born 1785 in Ludwigsburg, married 1811 and became widower i...

Help needed with salter

Hi Theoderich, I have some doubts; if you compare the eagle of Ludwigsburg and the eagle of the salter (if it is an eagle): Ludwigsburg has 1 head, the salters eagle is doubleheaded. Could it be Neuss? doubleheaded eagle with a cross on the right side...

Hi Trev, hi Pat thank you very much for your help - I think there is no further identification possible... Your observation that the mark of the original maker is overstruck is clearly visible - but overstruck after more than 20 years (in case it's Fyeofilov), does it make sense? Thanks again for pa...

The letters for Avdeyev can very faintly be read! Thanks Pat! But it can't be Futikin, because the first letter is not the cyrillic "I", but H for the cyrillic "N" and thats very clear in the photo. So, who is "NF" ?

Hi blakstone, you sure are right about Hanau, but this hallmark shown on the picture is for sure "Worms" : 13 and under it a key. Its to be found in Wolfgang Scheffler "Goldschmiede Hessens" page 759 - hallmark N° 894. So, no pseudomark...perhaps abused hallmark... best regards ...

Hi Marcolino, your hallmark is the townmark of Worms in Germany - probably 18th or 19th. If you find a makers mark it would be more easy to tell some more details...
