Re: Unidentified cigarette case IV

Hi Postnikov, I am not sure if I am allowed to post a response to such an old thread on here but I have a plain silver spoon with a makers mark the same as yours 'HBM' except the cartouche on mine has slightly 'sharper' corners. I am just wondering if you ever found out who the maker was, as I would...

Re: Petr Milyukov

Hi Postnikov, Thank you for this information - very helpful. Was this from the Postnikova-Loseva book or another? The reason for my asking was because I have seen a small item for sale at auction in a few days at my local auction house (I have no intention of buying it) although it was not advertise...

Hi,
Pat is right, to view this photo we are required to log in - but even after I did log into my yahoo account I was still unable to view the photo as it has been set to private.
You will need to amend this before we can be of help to you.

Re: object Robert Pringle

Hello Heidi, Another issue with the dish not previously mentioned is the amount of decoration. Salt seriously tarnishes silver if left in contact with it. Cleaning this dish to be rid of salt would be a regular and time consuming problem and would quite likely have left the dish looking well worn o...

Petr Milyukov

I have been looking for a good example of a Petr Milyukov makers mark but can't seem to find one after having scoured the internet for quite a while. I understand that it is П М in a rectangular cartouche, is this correct? I cannot seem to find the information anywhere online - and I am awaiting t...

Hi Piette, Am I correct in assuming you did get permission from the copyright holder to reproduce these images? Trev. Hi Trev, Afraid I didn't - It didn't even occur to me! I have removed the images though, so no problems should arise :) I will avoid doing this again in future (and also avoid menti...

Re: Russian Spoon hallmarks

Hi - Please read again and again until you understand what is wwritten: Traditional style, complete enamel covering, art nouveau influence with triangular and rectangular enamel cells, volutes. Spirals, silver beads, green ochre, violet- and-cream tints in a hazy “water-colour” style Do you see art...

Good evening Postnikov, Thank you for such a fast response. Here are pictures of the box in question. (admin edit - Images removed) This is the description that was provided: "A Silver-Gilt and Cloisonné Enamel Pill Box Mark of the 11th Artel, Moscow, 1908-1917 Oval, enamelled overall with sty...

Re: Russian Spoon hallmarks

Sorry to keep bringing this topic back but: I am not questionning Postnikov in his saying that this item is a fake, I only want to ask a question about the 11th Artel in general. Were 11th Artel objects always completely covered in enamel as you have said? Or can they often be found with a gold stip...

What information do you need?
You seem to know when and where it was hallmarked, along with the maker.

Re: Identification Help

Hi, The mark depicting an anchor indicates that this piece was hallmarked in Birmingham. The Lion mark (facing left with paw raised) indicates that this piece is solid sterling silver. (.925 fineness) The 'z' date letter indicates that this piece was hallmarked in 1924 in Birmingham. The 'H M' mark ...

Russian Spoon hallmarks

Just a brief intro: I am aged 16 and have been buying and selling antique English silver for a while now and as a result developed an interest in Russian silver enamel items. I have been using profits to buy Russian silver items although I am aware there are a lot of fakes around. I also do not know...
