Hello all,

Ifound an nice heavy Ladle with 2 Marks, Nr 1 is clear showing Austro-Hungarian Hallmark of Olmütz (F1) of the year 1832. Nr 2 must be the makers mark. I would be happy to hear something of the maker as name and so on. Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: German Augsburg Silver

Hi Klink, for me it looks quite fishy, the Augsburg mark doesn't exist in Helmut Seling, Augsburger Gold- und Silberschmiede, the makers mark resembles a bit the mark of Theophil Glaubich (Master before 1551). He died in 1572. Perhaps your coffee pot is coming from Hanau or elsewhere, but its for su...

Re: 18th Century snuff box

Probably its the makers mark of Jean-Malquis Le Quin, got his master-craftsman diploma 08.01.1748. He was still working in 1777. Adress: Quai Pelletier, "Hotel Aux Anneaux d'Or".

Re: Opinions on spoon maker

thank you for the super pic, we have here an example of an older hallmark overstruck by a newer (Minerva) one, it shows right of Minervas' nose. Its probably part of the garantie de 1819-1838.

Re: Opinions on spoon maker

to be sure, you should provide us with a good pic of the minerva head, perhaps its the "vieillard", meanwhile I am sure about Labbé. Compared your worn mark with a clear mark. Beuque "poinçons" informs that this mark was used 1829-1839. Minerva was used from may 10th 1838 on. reg...

Re: Opinions on spoon maker

Just a guess, as the picture is not very clear and is not showing the details of wearing: Laurent Labbé, Paris, 61 rue Quincampoix, known as "orfevre-cuilleriste" (producer of spoons). His mark was already used 1829-1839. In the center it should be a hare.

Re: Please help identify silver hallmark on snuff box

Hi Gerox, there's nothing to interprete, its very typical Simon Rosenau (as Steve already informed), cast silver, good and heavy quality, the crowned SR (in your case badly struck, only the typical "S" and part of the shield and "R" readable. Typical Hanau bit "fake marking&...

I found at least 4 different "Hochhausen", 3 in different parts of Germany, 1 in Austria. Perhaps you could provide us with a good photo of the complete writing on your cup, name of the family for example, as there are phonebooks in internet existing. The rim of the cup is not very typical...

Dear shneal, after seeing your newly made photos, I am very sorry to tell you, your casket is for sure no fake, no silver, somebody tried in a very primitive manner to cheat, if you are lucky the thin piece of metal with hallmarks is silver, perhaps...
