Norwegian? 830S CJ? napking ring help please

Have been through the Norwegian makers marks on this site and our libraries are still shut down after 8 weeks (strke) so any help really appreciated. Is it possible for 830S to be stamped one way and maker's mark the other way around (upside down)? Mark stamped on rounded part of rim so not having m...

Norwegian maker Bjornbak - any info

I've got as far as figuring out the flatware is Norwegian, from N.M. mark (at least I think it is). Can't seem to find any info on the maker, i.e. company or silversmith? Or date - heavy pieces seem to be good quality. Thanks for any help http://members.shaw.ca/pmccc/silver/bjornmark.JPG http://memb...

Tea strainer date? - International Sterling eagle mark

Hi, Any help with general idea of date greatly appreciated. References for International sterling marks that anyone knows of, or tea strainers in general? The mark is bird of some kind, with S75 also stamped on handle. Thanks! http://www3.telus.net/public/pmccc/ID/teastrainer.JPG http://www3.telus.n...

The shape of the blade certainly looks like Birks. You might have to try to find pattern - I couldn't.

GA - George Adams or George Angell?

Their marks look identical in the book I have handy (Miller's). Is there a way to distinguish? Does the little triangle next to maker's mark mean anything (hopefully not that they're "seconds")? Thanks for any help. (London, 1855) http://members.shaw.ca/pmccc/silver/myGeoAdamsmark.jpg .

Yup! Found it at library today (in Rainwater's Ency. of American Silver Mfgr's, which also has quite a few Canadian makers), I feel like Sherlock Holmes, but they said J.E. Ellis & Co., Toronto, pre P.W. Ellis, must be same mark. Damned lions are everywhere, also in world silver marks book I als...

I saw the lion and anchor pseudo marks online yesterday for some other American maker besides Gorham (wish I could remember which one <g>). Looking at some of my other stuff (including one CS&FS spoon which I hadn't been able to ID till I saw your reply to nwarhurst!), you're right, date always ...

Help with date - Birmingham sterling salt spoon

Hi, I have a pair of tiny ( 2 3/8" long) salt spoons I'm trying to authenticate and date. They're stamped sterling and have hallmarks - is that legit, to have both? No maker's mark, but I understand for small things that is not unusual. Tiny marks, I can make out the anchor and the lion passant...
