Re: Butter Knife 7" Fish * W * Bird ?
I think the left mark in your photo is Nefertiti's bust, suggesting a date of 1912 or later. I can't say whether the second is W or M.

So, what do we take from this? Is it a bad copy of an old mark or a possibly a correct variation or a remaining mystery? ;)

Yes, I have no idea about this salad set, but I can't overemphasize the importance of describing the item(s)-in-question as completely as possible in order to maximize the possibility of identification. Well done, dragonflywink!

First thing I notice is that your '1/7 SS' is actually '1/765'. Maybe just a bad photo, but that's my impression.

How smart of you to come to this forum and get the suggestion of unscrewing the piece, eh? ;)

Assuming you're reading the mark upside down, 'Henry Wilkinson & Co ' may be a possibility for the maker (a better image would help).

Re: FISHER, John (Grimwade p.509)
Isn't it odd that having the spurious stamps and articles marked with the spurious stamps at his place of business wasn't sufficient to convict 'of having feloniously forged and counterfeited the Stamp of the Goldsmiths Company, together with that of the King's Duty.'? Sounds like a deal was struck ...

Re: More Information About Colorado Silver Flatware
'Colorado Silver' is a euphemism for 'contains no real silver at all'. So your pieces contain no silver whatsoever, since they are solid Colorado silver.

Oops, found answers to my questions. The double thread is simply called military thread. As for heraldry attitudes, from the references I've read variation in presentation is an integral component of the art form.

Re: Unicorn Couchant
Hope I'm not beating-a-dead-unicorn, but I have 2 more questions concerning this piece. 1. Could the lifted front leg position be interpreted as lodged rather than couchant? Can a unicorn be lodged? 2. For some reason, I have the idea that the double thread pattern is military in nature - can anyone...

You didn't show a date code, so if there isn't one you can assume it wasn't made during the date code 'era' for R&B.

Re: Can you tell me about Kraft Alpacca and Gelotet?
I don't think you've searched very well. I googled 'gelotet' and the first hit was a translation from german to 'brazed or soldered'. It's possible the mesh is a solid silver alloy, but since the closure is not the item is not.
