Re: Towle Mfg Co with Towle "T" and Bird/Bat?

While I could not find a Bird/Bat mark for Towle I did find onhttps://www.sterlingflatwarefashions.co ... owle6.html it could be the 1880 "Tipped" flatware design....digging more into it.

Re: Did Shepard Mfg Co purchase rights to some of Julius Walk's desings for BINGHAM & WALK?

The term of the patent you refer to was 3.5 years; so unless it was renewed, patent protection was not in place for long. I noticed that would mean Sep 29, 1894. The design is raised up not etched in. So it makes me wonder then if Shepard Mfg. Co. requested use of the design and got a stamp, die, o...

Did Shepard Mfg Co purchase rights to some of Julius Walk's desings for BINGHAM & WALK?

I have a Shepard Mfg. Co. Indiana souvenir spoon. It has a typical Shepard Mfg. Co. Souvenir spoon shape and floret detailing but interestingly seem to have the similar bowl and upper handle portion of patented USD21079S Bingham & Walk spoon design who manufactured out of Indiana. https://i.post...

Re: Help identifying the maker of dish WPH Co.

There is a company that goes by Hitchcock Co. Inc., W.P. from New York about 1934 ish that may be the maker. I have not see many marks for them however, here is an example but it does not match yours. https://www.langantiques.com/university/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/hitchcock.png They were on 106 E...

Re: Did founder Ernest W. Campbell of Campbell-Metcalf Silver Co work for Holmes & Edwards?

Traintime I do see that but the patent shows 12-31-1895 as inventor Ernest W. Campbell assignor Howard & Edwards Silver Co. even thought Campbell-Metcalf Silver Co. was established 7-14-1894. What are other reasons they wouldn't patent it under the Campbell-Metcalf name? Was this their way of ma...

Re: Spoon "homag" 90 for Olympic Palace

I have seen a few pieces like this marked "Homag 90 Pforzheim"

Pforzheim is a town in southwestern Germany. The town had a jewelry and watchmaking industry, which was established in 1767.

I am wondering if the pattern itself is called Homag rather than that being the actual maker.

Did founder Ernest W. Campbell of Campbell-Metcalf Silver Co work for Holmes & Edwards?

I just ran across an interesting patent where the inventor is Ernest W. Campbell but instead of the assignor being Campbell-Metcalf Silver Co it is assigned to Holmes & Edward Silver Company. Bridgeport, CT & Providence, RI are only about 120 miles from one another so it does not seem entire...

Re: Dohrmann Companies--Maker or not?

A friend of mine mentioned another fairly sound idea for why this keeps popping up. Perhaps large companies (hotels, tours, etc.) in need of flatware came up with their own design and then ordered from multiple companies in the max stock allowed. I am wondering if all these companies accepted the or...

Re: An Oddball for Hotel Del Monte

Hotel Del Monte was requisitioned by the Navy at the beginning of World War II and used as a pre-flight training school. I would imagine that had something to do with this basic design or perhaps just a basic kitchen tasting spoon marked so it was not stolen?

Re: Dohrmann Companies--Maker or not?

I think that threat theory may be very sound. I dug out some more of my flatware for the hotels and camps and came across 5 pickling forks. 4 are marked " Dohrco Gramercy" & 1 is marked "Victor S. Co. A1" followed by an I & S in boxes for International Silver Co. Victor S...
