Re: Need information on maker's mark

Hi, Welcome to the Forum. Right family, wrong silversmith. The letters are 'EA', Edward Aldridge of Foster Lane. Edward was probably the uncle of Charles. See: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=33021&p=83463&hilit=aldridge#p83463 and: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewt...

Crest on a 1745 basket

I have looked all over the internet for this one, and can't find anything exact. It's on a silver basket fro 1745. Any help would be appreciated. http://i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq353/mosteller2889/20170517_124306.jpg http://i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq353/mosteller2889/20170516_204342.jpg http...

Need information on maker's mark

If I'm understanding my research correctly, this basket was made in London in 1745. But the maker's Mark "ca" is a mystery. The only name close to that era was Charles Aldridge, but this piece seems to be a little early for him to have made. Any information would be helpful. Cheers! http:/...
