Re: Help with odd and un-identified hallmark

Ahhh, I got it - it's a hat! :-) What's between the crossed keys is a very good question, and not one that will be answered in this world (but perhaps in the next) as it is completely obscured, and sort of a blob... What do you this is the little hallmark with the numbers? (they almost look like &qu...

Re: Help with odd and un-identified hallmark

Hi AG2012, thank you for taking the time to answer!

From what I can tell, there is a little "blob" between and below the crossed keys, and all in a shield (not quite a rhombus). This is vexing, for sure.

And so you think it is Italian and circa 1815? Papal States?

Unknown hallmark help? Thanks!

Hello folks, this sad British Georgian cup has had all of its hallmarks (on the body) rubbed off completely. All that is left is this hallmark on the handle. I've been racking my brains over it and can't make it out. Does anyone recognize it? Many big thanks! http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt228...

Re: Help with pesky hallmark

I'm attaching smaller hallmark pictures right here as the moderator thought my original ones were too large and just added links - perhaps forum members would find it easier to just see the smaller photos here. Any help would be appreciated! http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt228/ZoomKa77/Box1_zps...

Re: Help identifying pesky hallmark

Hi Phil, thanks for your reply and suggestion. I looked up William Lukin in Grimwade and I can only see William Lukin I and he's Grimwade 1966, entered 31 July 1699, but his mark is different. Which reference book were you looking at? (or perhaps you have a Grimwade number). Cheers! I'm also attachi...

Help with pesky hallmark

Hello, can anyone help me with these pesky Edinburgh hallmarks? The maker mark is very odd, plus it looks like two monarch heads, and no date letter. All very odd to me but maybe someone can help? I took photos both up and down. Thanks! http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt228/ZoomKa77/IMG_3383_zpsq...

Help identifying pesky hallmark

Hello everyone, can you please have a look and help me identify the silversmith? I have a good handle on the other marks (date letter, lion, London) but just can't make out the maker. Thank you all in advance! http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt228/ZoomKa77/XXdup1_zpsatddd9a3.jpg http://i614.photo...
