Good day Another market find today. This time a teaspoon with numbers, an unknown crowned letter and a bird in a diamond. Any information will be helpful. I tried my pest to get clear pictures of the small marks. https://i.postimg.cc/Yh3jnt8K/20240217-155747.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/d7z0k3Qd/2024021...

Hello Jannie In the inner circle it reads "mabrouk" مبروك which means "blessed/blessings" or "congratulations" and 1935 ١٩٣٥ In the outer circle it reads "mabrouk alaik - shughghal fi omdurman" مبروك عليك شغّل في ام دورمان. I think a reasonable translation wo...

Sudanese Tray from 1935

Good day I posted this year's back but it seems the pictures went missing. This tray was made in 1935 in the city of Omdurman (أم درمان). I am still trying to get the maker from the Arabic writing on it. It is 20cm in diameter and weigh 316 grams. Groete Jannie https://i.postimg.cc/Jyn9wTmx/20240114...

dognose wrote: Sat Jan 13, 2024 1:43 pm Hi Jannie,

Is this silver covered ceramic, or enamelled silver?

Coffee has been a popular beverage for hundreds of years.

Trev.
Hi Trev
It is very heavy and about 3mm thick. So it looks like silver covering ceramic.

Re: Help wiith country of origin plz

Hello It is interesting that the same mark has surfaced twice recently. It reads عمل جعفر, (?amal Jafer) or "made by Jafar". Could also be Jafary since the mark is well worn. This must be Persian or northern Indian. There is a Persian silversmith named Jafary whose mark appears on the Nat...

William Hutton & Sons Espresso cup

Good day I have found this small cup and saucer this week. It seems to be an espresso cup from around 1892 by William Hutton & Sons. I can't seem to find similar ones online. Are these rare? Can't think that coffee would have been popular back then. Groete Jannie https://i.postimg.cc/hQr7GTbG/20...

Good evening I found this teaspoon a few months ago. It is by Hamilton & Co, Calcutta. It has a military shield of some sorts. Would it be WW2 related?
