The mark on the left side is the Diana head, made in Austria 1872 - 1922. No assay office.

B with a Crown hallmark

Hello I have this Torah pointer that appears to be 19th century or earlier. In my experience, this type of pointer hails from Poland, Bohemia / Moravia, or Hungary. Less likely is Germany or The Netherlands although certainly possible. There are two marks on the suspension ring, one is too blurred f...

Re: 16C Frankfurt? Full name in Rosenberg?

Regarding the inscriptions --- no help. This binding appears to have numerous replaced silver mounts, and the plaques with the Hebrew are later additions. It's a real mess, but I at least want to get the marks down.

Re: 16C Frankfurt? Full name in Rosenberg?

Hi everyone. Thanks for your help so far. The book inside is a Hebrew prayer book from Venice, 1587. So now that I can't find anything about KH, does anyone have an opinion if the first mark is actually Frankfurt A.M.?

16C Frankfurt? Full name in Rosenberg?

I am trying to verify these hallmarks found on a book binding. It was sold as "16th century Frankfurt A.M. mark, and makers mark KH found in Rosenberg 3, No 2030". I looked in the Tardy guide and the first mark looks more like the 1624 mark from Aix-la-Chapelle than from Frankfurt. Also I ...

Re: Unknown maker on Hungarian Pendant 1820

Yes it is JD and now I see you had the question before without an answer. Thank you for taking the time to try and find out who JD was! Here is the piece, it is a Jewish amulet --- large Hebrew letter "Hey" (it stands for "G-d"), with a crown on top of the letter (known as a &quo...
