[ David Please find attached l hope a better image of the mark, l call it a clutch bag but it could well be called something else, it is 6.5" long and just under 4" wide (please excuse old money) but in modern terms it weighs 416 grams Thanks for any further help you can give Regards Nigel...

Not the best of pictures, there is a two character mark, and 925 Sterling Silver on this silver and gilt Chinese clutch bag, would like to know the maker and a possible date please

l am not 100% sure but l have come across a B & C mark for Brookes and Crookes, there is a note next to the mark "earlier incuse mark Nov 1864" they worked from Atlantic Works, St Phillips Road Sheffield, where this was assayed

First mark entered 20th November 1711 as a smallworker, entered two furthur marks on the same register on the 27th july 1720, presumably from the same address Field Lane That is all l have maybe somebody else has more info, l could find nothing in "Heals" all info from" Grimwades"...

My first thought is that this is a knife handle stuck on a magnifying glass, the metal around the glass, is that hallmarked ? the handle looks to elaborate in my mind for it, but lets await other comments

Hi Frank l agree with the mark being Edward Woods 4th mark entered 30th September 1740, he was apprenticed to James Roode 6th July 1715, free 2nd August 1722 he dies in 1752, it appears that his master specialised in salt-cellars and Wood was the same having produced little else, and it is noted tha...

Well it looks like London 1801/02, there should be a set of full marks on the lid which would tell you the maker, although to the left of the duty mark there does appear to be a "rubbed area"

There is a collection of German silver in the Victoria and Albert Museum, l am afraid l do not know if there are any pieces by Conrad Hilling, but l do know the 75% of it is from Ausburg.
